The Iron Man Guide to Choosing the Right Real Estate Agent

Tony Stark, the Iron Man himself, faces challenging tasks on a regular basis. It’s just part of being an incredible superhero! And I know – choosing a real estate agent when you’re buying or selling a home can feel like quite a challenging task too.

So, I’ve put together this guide (inspired by Iron Man) to help you make the best decision!
Here’s how to choose a real estate agent when buying or selling a home:

Make sure the agent is tech-savvy.

There’s no doubt about it – Tony Stark is a genius when it comes to technology. Otherwise, he’d never have been able to create his Iron Man suit.

Your real-estate agent should be tech-savvy too! No – they don’t need to know how to build a giant metal superhero suit. But they do need to have an online presence, like a website and/or a blog. They should also know how to use the internet to find the best home possible for you and your family. Otherwise, you could miss out on your dream home due to your real estate agent’s lack of knowledge!

Make sure the agent knows a lot about the local area.

Tony Stark is a quick thinker. To avoid getting killed while fighting off evil, he has to quickly survey the area and make sure he uses his surroundings to his advantage.

Similarly, your real estate agent should know their surroundings – the local area – and use that knowledge to your advantage. For example, if you’re looking to buy a home in Killeen, you’ll want to partner with a real estate agent who knows a lot about Killeen. Otherwise, you could end up buying the wrong home because of a bad recommendation from an uninformed agent.

Do some background research on your real estate agent.

This is the part where you get to act like Tony Stark! While you won’t be researching engineering like the Iron Man himself, you will be performing research on your real estate agent to make sure they hold a license and see if you can find out whether or not there has been any disciplinary action taken against them.

If you’d like, you can also ask for references from the agent’s past clients, and you can search for information online to find out how successful and ethical they have been in the past.

Look for the agent’s credentials and online reviews from people who have worked with the agent when you can. It’s also a good idea ask a friend or family member if they know anyone who has had a good or bad experience with the agent.

Make sure the agent is experienced.

Tony Stark is great at what he does because he spends a lot of time building and researching in his lab. He didn’t become a success by accident – his years of experience and perseverance are what helped him achieve greatness.

You’ll want to make sure your real estate agent has plenty of experience too. While some newbie agents are good at what they do, it’s usually better to go with a more seasoned agent who has helped lots of people find the right home.

Make sure the agent is prepared to give you the attention you deserve.

When Tony Stark has a good idea, he pursues it ruthlessly. Remember in Avengers: Age of Ultron when Tony fully committed himself to saving the world by jump-starting a dormant peacekeeping program? Although he ultimately ended up unleashing Ultron instead, he still showed an admirable amount of perseverance and paid full attention to the major problems at hand while working tirelessly to solve them.

Your real estate agent should be willing to give you their full attention too. Be sure that the agent you choose is fully committed to helping you, whether you’re looking to buy or sell a home. They should be ready to put in crazy amounts of effort to help you get where you want to be!

Make sure the agent is a good communicator.

It’s pretty obvious that Tony Stark is a witty smooth-talker. He’s good at convincing people to follow along with his ideas (Bruce Banner in Avengers: Age of Ultron, for example!), and he’s quick to communicate his thoughts.

Prioritizing good communication is key when you’re thinking about how to choose a real estate agent. After all, you don’t want to get stuck with an agent who can almost never be reached by phone, text, or email! Before you hire a real estate agent, be sure to ask how you can get in touch with them. If they seem unavailable or difficult to contact, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere for a more communicative agent.

Make sure the agent’s personality is a good match.

Tony Stark has a pretty strong personality and doesn’t get along with just anyone. In fact, he butts heads with several people – especially Captain America! Unfortunately for them, they still have to work together, so they have no choice other than to put up with each other.

You don’t want to be in this type of situation with your real estate agent. While personality may not be the most important thing to look for when choosing a successful real estate agent, it’s still something you’ll want to consider.

Think about it. You’re going to be working with your real estate agent for a while – do you really want to work with someone you can’t stand and don’t get along with? Probably not.

Find an agent whose personality meshes well with yours, and be sure that you both agree on your expectations for buying/selling a home too.
